Ingredients
For the Dough
- 3¾ cups (470g) all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 2¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup (180ml) warm milk (110°F/43°C)
- ¼ cup (60ml) warm water
- ¼ cup (57g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cinnamon Filling
- ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon honey
For the Honey Glaze
- 1½ cups (180g) powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Mix in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and honey until smooth.
Step 3: Shape the Honey Buns
- Roll the dough into a 12×18-inch (30×45 cm) rectangle.
- Spread the cinnamon-honey filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log.
- Slice into 12 equal pieces and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
Step 4: Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the buns are lightly golden.
- Allow them to cool for about 10 minutes.
Step 5: Make the Glaze
- Whisk together the powdered sugar, honey, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle generously over the warm honey buns.
